Janthopoyism

What in God’s Name Is God’s Name?

Book 1: The External Universe | Chapter 1.4 | 26 June 2020

Throughout history, religions have called the Universal Energy/creation process by many names: God, Allah, Jehovah, Jah, Yahweh, Shangdi, Ahura Mazda... there's a stack of them. But which is correct?

Well, you'd have to ask the Supreme Being, wouldn't you?

The issue comes as faiths insist on bestowing titles upon identical definitions. It is one of the rare convolutions that both exoteric and esoteric wisdom trip into. Many traditional Eastern and Western polytheistic/monotheistic timelines personify the same components of the Universe under different monikers, be it deities/saints of creation, spirit, fertility, luck, protection, or any god you fancy! Meanwhile, occult-orientated texts (think Theosophy or Neoplatonism) pedantically divide it into similar separated forces, such as the unknowable source essence, the intellect behind the cosmic design, or the manifestation into a matter-based reality.

Janthopoyism throws that away without reading it. When we speak of God, we refer to the absolute unification of an indivisible EVERYTHING, whatever that may concern within and beyond our scope of understanding, containing the above concept and anything else that exists or has ever existed, a 100% complete picture. You can attempt to add to that description or whittle it down, but we are not involved. Whichever word depicts God as the total sum of everything is the one we subscribe.

The deeper one explores spiritual studies, the less relevant this naming business becomes beyond practical application. Janthopoyism exercises no command over language and firmly stands by your freedom to label this power with whatever resonates with your understanding or comfort. If this infinite omnipresence of divine electricity is aware of our speech, then it would surely have higher priorities than what the monkeys on the tiny pebble of Earth are calling it. What value is a name when you are literally everything?

However, what is more valuable than naming God is shedding your terminology fears. Janthopoyism might use any number of titles when speaking of the Universal Energy, but if you have an aversion to our choices, simply replace them with a word that helps you relax. There will always be a synonym, so reach for your thesaurus. In doing this, you should recognise your perspective's blame for such oppositions and the absurdity that you've granted words so much authority over you.

Once you enter this conversation with an open mind, you might find amusement in the interchangeable names and definitions for "God" across different religious cannons. Here are our favourite theological interpretations, which we appreciate for their Pantheistic/Panentheistic allusions:
  • Brahman/Para Brahman/Satya (Hinduism) - The ultimate reality underlying all phenomena.
  • Adi-Buddha (Vajrayana Buddhism) - The First/Primordial Buddha as innate wisdom present in all sentient beings.
  • The Tao (Taoism) - The absolute principle underlying the Universe.
  • The Superorganism (Confucianism) - The organised oneness of the Universe that functions as an organic whole.
  • Ame-no-Minakanushi (Shinto) - The original nature; the heart of the Universe.
  • The Ultimate Reality (Hermeticism) - Mental Nature of the Universe, the mind of the all, the root process/vibration of existence.
  • Anima mundi (Hermeticism/Kabbalah) - The world soul connecting all living things on the planet.
  • Ein Sof (Kabbalah) - God prior to any self-manifestation; "the Endless One".
  • The One (Neoplatonism/Hermeticism) - The first principle of reality, an unknowable substance which is the creative source of the Universe.
  • The Holy Spirit (Abrahamic) - An agent through which the divine force influences the Universe.
  • Monad (Pythagoreanism/Hermeticism) - Units of the simplest substance that collectively makes up the Universe/Supreme Being.
  • Waheguru (Sikhism) - The Supreme Being as a universal, genderless deity; the immortal essence that evolved into and sustains the world as part of its creation.
  • Universal Mind/Infinite Intelligence/Formless Substance (New Thought Movement) - The spirit that is the totality of all things.
  • Fohat (Theosophy) - The animating principle electrifying every atom into life.
  • The Absolute (Theosophy/New Age) - The ultimate reality of the Universe.
  • (Mother) Nature (Modern Paganism/Wiccanism) - The worship of the phenomena visible through our Earth and beyond.

There are plenty more which we could harvest for an age and a day, but when we sift these down, Janthopoyism has settled upon Universal Energy as our chosen terminology for "God". We feel this ticks all boxes without grinding anyone's preconceived perceptions, be it those of faith or non-believers. But know that when we refer to this title, we use it interchangeably with any of those offered above, including "God" (if you can handle it).

As a final note, Janthopoyism also acknowledges the Mandelbrot set as the best visual representation of "God", illustrating fractals that recur for infinity irrespective of how far you dive into or pull away from it.

Janthopoyism is a spiritual philosophy meets self-improvement program.
We view the Absolute collection of all Universal Energy to be the highest power. You are part of that power. You are an extension of divinity.
The ultimate purpose of this power is to evolve, and we each have a unique part to play in this progression. The details of your role are relayed to you every moment of your life via emotional notifications.

The tricky bit is that human beings have developed a communication barrier between themselves and this instruction.
This barrier is called "the brain".
But never fear! By utilising some very simple practices, you can open the flow of exchange, granting you access to the ether of infinite ideas, the infallible path of your guided destiny, and the recollection of your holiness.

Which is basically a wanky way of saying that your life is about to get a whole bunch better.

Join the movement before it becomes too mainstream.
