Skew: Health

Book 5: The External Worship | Chapter 5.3 | 29 April 2021

Health is the bottom piece of the Jenga pile. The balance of the Skew System is reliant on its sturdiness. It is the pin in the grenade beneath your being. The negligence of this Skew will kill you faster than any other, and one day, it will kill you anyway.

The bulk of this health chapter is what you'd expect it to be. It's about the physical vehicle you require to navigate the External Universe and experience the journeys ahead. In terms of personal evolution, the body is the key to maximising a long, comfortable, and mobile life, getting the most out of our brief stay on the planet whilst giving our best to the collective consciousness. On the flip side, if this Skew tumbles for whatever reason, all the other Skews will plunge with it, and everything will be unfixable until you sort this part out.

Fortunately for the majority of us, addressing health is an uncomplicated affair and can be broken down into the following fundamental sections.

Exercise
Fitness is a difficult conversation for some, granted, but rest assured that you can have the time of your life while working out. Fun is the keyword, as per usual. Appreciate walks or runs or cycles as you explore the world. Join training or sporting classes that sync with your passions. Play exergaming games. Locate a gym that reflects your personality. Hire a good-looking instructor. Mentally survey the options and let them swirl around until the ideas come. Try anything that gives you a spark, and if it doesn't click, it's not a failure; it's the acquirement of knowledge. Move on to the next lightbulb. The quest alone can raise your vibrations substantially, and once a routine sets in the cement and physical activity becomes habitual, the pleasure of your days will generate a dependency on the endorphin kick, removing the need for willpower to get you on your feet.

Diet
Here's another obvious contender that is just as important. You already have some idea whether your eating habits lack care or not. The trick is to find healthy things you enjoy consuming and trade them in until your body takes shape, until your brain praises the absence of sugar crashes, and until you develop new dietary patterns. The number of programs and apps out there is vast, so you should regularly revisit and track what you eat to unearth any nutritional deficiencies. No matter who you are, there's always something.
And, for the love of "God", do not forget to hydrate!!!

Consumption
Diet is one corner, but various other consumption concerns go along with it. Smoking, drugs, alcohol, medication etc., are matters worth minimising or eradicating. The question is simple: are the cons outweighing the pros?

Maintenance
These are the commonplace tune-ups that a professional needs to address, such as dental checkups, eye tests, STI tests, mole checkups, and semi-regular doctor visits. When you fall victim to the flu, serve the flu until it leaves you. Sickness is often the body forcing you to slow down, so slow down. If a pain doesn't calm, speak to an expert and follow their advice.

General
Get ample sleep! Work on a straight posture. Take regular computer breaks to stretch. And spend several hours outside for that fresh oxygen charge while basking in natural sunlight. Just don't neglect the sunscreen!

For particular individuals, the above reads like an insult, as their health problems run far deeper than basic solutions. Perhaps they are injured or have contracted something nasty or have been ill from birth, and Health has fallen as their Weakest Link for the longest of ages. In cases such as these, don't lose focus on the goal. Raise your overall score by a mere .5. It's not a big ask, and it is always achievable. Pursue small wins. Research your condition in places you haven't before. Devote yourself to the requests of your doctor while seeking an extra set of licensed eyes. Do whatever you can to feel the tiniest bit better. We will provide more tips later, but one should also seriously consider what comes next.

A criminally overlooked element of our health is not only the body's performance but additionally our perspective of our bodies. For example, rock-hard abs are not essential to a person's physical wellness, but those who have them will feel very healthy when admiring their reflected image. Health is frequently a Skew of self-love, and one of the most reliable means to show admiration is to pamper your bodily self with any attention that vibrates happiness.

Cosmetic/Appearance
Cut your hair in a style you fancy. Maintain high hygiene standards. Seek a massage. Purchase products for your skin. Wear makeup. Select clothes that compliment your character. Keep shaven the parts you want to keep shaved. Decorate your frame with jewellery or tattoos. When you face the mirror, you must adore what you see, even if only by .5 more.

These suggestions may seem unrelated or perhaps silly to you. I have met people who argue that they genuinely do not care what they look like, and that's fine. But ask yourself this: if you were speaking to your crush or sat in an interview with the boss of your dream job, would you be happy to have just got out of bed, still in your pyjamas? Or would you be more confident wearing the sharpest attire that money can buy? If the case is the latter, then your self-perception is undeniably affected by your outward appearance.

Freshening up your presentation is arguably the easiest way to lift your Health score and initiate momentum. If your body looks good to you, then your body will feel good to you. Hence, if you are stuck, start here and run with it.

One tempting yet erroneous assumption about the Health Skew is that it encompasses mental health. This is not entirely the truth. All of the Skews work together to soothe the mind. It's not dependent on any one of them; it is the harmonising of them all. However, Health is undoubtedly the most dependable Skew when it comes to lifting your mood, for it does so via the brain organ itself. Physical activity generates natural happy juices, and the correct nutrition can fill the holes left by a dietary shortcoming. Your brain needs to be fit to deal with life! If you want your cerebral tissue to produce more joyful thoughts, you require the right chemicals to be available on tap. It's primarily this Skew where you catch them.

Your body is the most useful thing you will ever own. It's a complex organic machine trying its hardest to keep you alive. Nothing else in the world is trying to keep you alive with as much passion as your biological system. It worships you so you can move forward with your evolution. And without it, you cease to exist on this current plain, case closed. So treat it with love and respect. It will reciprocate .5 at a time.

And may I conclude with a personal note that it's almost embarrassing how much of this scripture I wrote whilst running. Sprinting full speed through nature is the closest I've come to fully connecting with "God", but maybe that's just me.
