What Is the Purpose of Life?
Book 1: The External Universe | Chapter 1.5 | 9 July 2020
As is the inescapable duality of Janthopoyism, we have identified two seemingly synonymous but (for our intentions) distinct questions on the table. They are:
- What is the meaning of life?
- What is the purpose of life?
The
meaning is the substance of life. This factor makes life worthy of our time. It is why we bother getting up in the morning and participating in everyday existence. In
Book 2: The Internal Universe, we shall further address this topic. Sorry for the wait, but without order, we are chaos and have you ever tried to read chaos? It doesn’t make sense!
The
purpose is the aim of life. Here is where it starts, and there is where it is going, point A to point B.
When it comes to individual experience, the purpose of life is the same for you as it is for all things:
- You are born
- You survive for as long as you can
- You reproduce to perpetuate your species
- And then you die
This conclusion rings true but is unsatisfying. Because, on a collective, universal, eternal level, what is the purpose of that?
So we pull away until we can analyse the picture as a whole, and there we find the answer.
The ultimate purpose of the Universal Energy is... to
evolve.
The purpose of Life is
evolution.
Since the initiation of time, the Universal Energy has pushed forward, progressing step by step, learning how to refine its movements, and then advancing in every possible direction.
Is this a deliberate action following an intelligent design? Or a random sequence of nonsensical events which took billions of years and infinite possibilities to end up right here? That information does not exist for us. No human has the mental capacity to explain this mystery with any certainty. Anyone who claims to hold this data is basing it on nothing but their assumptions. It would be best to only listen to such people for your entertainment.
That said, it is undeniable that evolution is going
somewhere. But where? The answer is, once again, we do not know. In fact, it is imperative that we never learn the answer to that question. Our drive to stay alive is fuelled by the unknown. There is a curiosity behind each day where we can never fully predict what will happen, which also works on the greater universal spectrum. If the cosmos revealed the future details of its evolution to us, it would ruin the film. We would no longer seek answers because we would know the final answer, and the rest of existence would lose its objective. Without our inherent wonderment, life's purpose would dissolve.
The Universal Energy may or may not have some grand scheme, and it may or may not know the intended outcome of this evolution. Janthopoyism is not in the spiritual pool to make such calls, and neither should any other belief system. But what we do understand is that the world's current position is the consequence of all the previous steps, extending back forever. We and everything else surviving at this very moment is on the cutting-edge of this evolution, living as the most up-to-date manifestation of the Universal Energy, experiencing itself at a level further ahead than what it has ever experienced before. The Universe is aware of itself because we are aware of the Universe, and we are part of the Universe.
Meaning:
You are an essential ingredient of this movie.
Your specific contribution to evolution is small but significant.
And that is why, at its most fundamental definition, Janthopoyism is the worship of "God" by servicing evolution itself.
We shall detail this concept in greater depths as we go on, starting... right now.
