Are Morals Definable and Does Karma Exist?
Book 2: The Internal Universe | Chapter 2.6 | 30 September 2020
If everyone's moral compass faced an identical direction, conflict would not occur and our individual trajectories would be too similar to benefit the Universal Energy.
Every person's moral code is questionable now and then. Perhaps you've sought revenge on someone who has mistreated you. Or you've consumed the flesh of an animal that suffered greatly. Or you've pursued unconventional sexual urges. Or you've fired a worker in the name of business. Or you've enjoyed products from companies that employ slave labour. Or you've created art that encourages depraved concepts. People hold firm yet morally opposing views on such ideas, yet most of us can (at times, begrudgingly) accept that these stances are an individual's freedom to take.
The line between wrong and right is often blurry, and you are not the authority to determine it. Sometimes unfavourable events breed fruitful results anyway, and vice versa. That is the universal manner of balance. The Taoist Old Man Lost His Horse parable perfectly illustrates how the division of life into good and bad happenings is a futile exercise because we cannot accurately predict the future chain of consequences (see Parables section at the back of the book). The best you can do is follow the path that buzzes with the most meaningful sense of well-being within your ethics. It's not about what's wrong or right; it's about what's wrong or right for you. Do not stress over the actions of others. Find peace in making your decisions from the appropriate place, irrespective of the outcome.
When evaluating your personal principles, Janthopoyism recommends that you scribble some words on paper as this helps to unclog thought passages while accessing deeper realms of your consciousness. Think about who you want to be, what you'd like people to say about you, and how you desire others to describe you after passing. What are your core values? Which features of your character are you proud of and wish to encourage? Which standards are you not willing to violate? What mistakes have you made that were so incongruent with your emotional response that you pray never to repeat them? Documenting your ethical framework officiates their jurisdiction and reinforces you to stick to them.
One could further contemplate the most profound moral dilemmas in our society, for example, abortion laws, the unsustainable meat industry, assisted suicide, adultery, giving money to the homeless, global vaccinations, and the death penalty. Simply by establishing these boundaries for yourself, you will train your brain to live within them. So when you overstep the mark and experience that distinct ick (which you will), hold yourself accountable and evaluate the failure in order to build an even stronger framework. But remember that your principles are your principles. It is your duty alone to follow them; they're not anyone else's obligation.
The controversy comes with those select few who feel it is acceptable to harm others. The philosophy of Janthopoyism may be difficult to stomach initially, but it remains the same on all topics. Everything is a manifestation of divinity, including those who commit crimes that sicken the majority of us. Like you, every human is an extension of the Universal Energy, birthed to carry out specific tasks, operating on a system of equilibrium. It creates conflict and then rectifies itself to learn and evolve. There are some truly magnificent heroes out there who help the disadvantaged in hugely positive ways, and we should focus on them. However, for their contribution to be constructive, this positivity has to be counterbalanced by exact amounts of negativity. The aggravation of conflict is imperative to the evolutionary program.
Moreover, you'll usually find that these tortured people result from immense conflict previously thrust upon them; conflict you will never understand and therefore are not in a position to judge. It's not up to you to label anyone as a good or bad person. This insight rings especially true in labelling yourself. Once again, that is an abstract concept, and who are you comparing yourself to? How many other minds have you had? How do you know what someone else deems the proper way of living? It is not your rank to make that call. The best you can do is compare yourself to your former self. Are you bettering your character in aspects you consider crucial? Then great. Concentrate on that and forget everyone else's path; it is not your bother.
Thankfully when it comes to those who are a threat to society, the evolution of communities disfavours them, and Janthopoyism wholeheartedly supports the introduction of laws against these matters. The removal of such personalities from the proximity of others is beneficial to the evolution of the larger population. Nevertheless, looking down on these misguided individuals as somehow inferior is incorrect and will never help. They remain humans with spirits that are still holy. They were merely behaving how their thoughts deemed correct. Please offer compassion to cross-wired brains moulded from outside interferences, whipped into ugly shape by ugly circumstances or poisoned genetics, never by own design. We must do everything in our power to rehabilitate them into harmony with their surroundings. No alternative sentencing is fair. Only love and suitable attention can fix broken lives. What's more, we can prevent the next mess by offering open arms before a mishap strikes.
As admirable as the above perceptions are, we must reiterate that none of this is your concern unless directly disrupting your path. If you are not currently facing a murderer, do not worry about murderers. Instead, meditate on your morals to figure out where you slot into this loose world. Once you have matured your self-governing policies, all you need to do is stay 100% in tune with them as you execute any step. Read your list of principles regularly to solidify your beliefs. Note whenever you do something that conjures a feeling of yuck. Recognise it as an emotional warning from the Internal Universe. You have stumbled from the path that the Universal Energy has set for you, and you must reevaluate your movements based on this upset.
When you are confident that you are functioning true to thine own self with your morals solidly established, then the consequences of your choices are irrelevant. You need never look back in regret if you know you stuck to your principles and made the best decision you could with the information you had, and are now ready to conduct even better judgment going forward. One can never blame you for a mistaken outcome if your heart was pure during the process.
Continuing ahead, and related to morals is the idea of karma. Does it exist? The answer might surprise you. It does! That said, it doesn't quite work how most people interpret it. Karma is merely the product of moving closer or farther away from your central ethics, and in doing so, materialising joy or trouble into your life. Shine, and the world will shine in return! Similarly, the longer you're removed from your True Path, the worse your immediate Universe will spiral, causing all sorts of chaos.
If you do something and feel terrible about it, you perceive reality from an outlook of guilt and the quantum fields will respond accordingly. Indeed, the thought that you deserve Cosmic punishment is the same as waving a giant flag demanding the Universe deliver its reckoning. Reap the manifestation benefits of avoiding unwanted emotional ramifications! In theory, you could live out years of intense wickedness, but if your morals vibrate with zero remorse, then the Universe will not get in your way. Look at those in power and know what we say is true. Look at Josef Mengele, look at Mengistu Haile Mariam, look at Joseph Stalin, look at Jimmy Savile. Speculatory rebirths aside, these men disprove any karmic retribution within one's current frame of existence.
Again, let's reflect on the idea that numerous beings are called upon to assist the production of conflict. It is part of the eternal balance, and if you do not appreciate it, that's perfect! You now recognise that this is not your path. Instead, you can happily follow your trail of righteousness—blissfully ignoring that most others also feel confident that they are following the path of righteousness.
On the flip side, if you are one who feels no moral accountability towards depraved activities and are happy to be remembered as a negative influence in people's lives, then so be it. As discussed, morals are subjective, hence Janthopoyism does not directly assess general human behaviour. We acknowledge that unsavoury incidents are still the Universe attacking itself, like when you argue with a friend in a dream. Our group survival mentality has developed to take uncivilised actions personally, and it causes much of our species great pain to endure or witness these things. Yet, it is of very little consequence to the Universal Energy. That is why both the Universe and Janthopoyism declare no judgment against any dark path you choose, and we will voluntarily shake the hand of anyone. But we shall do so with a frown, and we will not invite you to stay. For if you recognise your conduct is negatively affecting the existence of another and you carry no determination for improvement, then you cannot reasonably refer to yourself as a Janthopoyist.
To conclude, here's a tangent to discuss dishonesty. The act of lying doesn't appear to rattle the cage of integrity too fervently and is usually dubbed a minor offence, yet Janthopoyism vigorously opposes it, with our adamant dislike rooted in evolutionary logic. Mistruths force you to retain information beyond memory, essentially saving the story twice. Therefore, they clog up the mind and throttle the communication between the Universal Energy and your Internal Energy. And above this, why are you lying anyway? Passing false words is strong evidence that you are not living your True Path. If you were sliding down the ride in tune with your insides, you would not want to hide or distort the content. Rather, you'd proudly announce your ongoings to the world! So why is that not the case? What are you doing instead? Or what are you not doing? If you're unwilling to be honest about your life, that is a concern requiring immediate and dramatic change before you can progress any further.
