Skew: Home
Book 5: The External Worship | Chapter 5.5 | 29 April 2021
Home runs the risk as the most overlooked Skew, yet one cannot overstate its importance. Your home is your sanctuary, your safe space, your rock upon which to build stability. If it is disrupted, your life will spin off like it has lost its centre of gravity.
Thankfully, it is often the easiest Skew to rejuvenate, so you can have a ton of fun addressing it.
To diagnose your Home score and raise your vibration, start with your bed and work your way outward. Where you wake to greet each morning and where you sleep to roll the credits deserves utmost comfort. If your bed sucks, sort this out for prompt relief. We're talking softness, firmness, warmth, silence, and a pleasing aesthetic. Your pillow alone requires extensive contemplation. And once you're on your feet, for goodness sake, make your bed!
“If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another. By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that the little things in life matter. If you can’t do the little things right, you’ll never be able to do the big things right. If, by chance, you have a miserable day, you will come home to a bed that is made. That you made. And a made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be better.” – William H. McRaven
From the bed, expand into the room. If this is not your favourite place on the planet, you'd better have a damn convincing reason for that. It needs to reflect your personality while giving you enough air to breathe. We can't express this louder. Here is your holy habitat of rest, where the outside world should only enter by invitation. This area is where you pause and take stock of your day to improve on the next. Without a location of peaceful buffering, the knots of life will continuously tie upon themselves, and your evolutionary contributions will choke as a result.
From the room, look at the house. Is everything functioning as it's supposed to? Is it in good shape? Is it presentable? Is the rent reasonable? Is your landlord fair and responsive? Are the transport options manageable? Are your pets behaving? We blur into relationship territory, but how do you feel about the people staying with you? Are you happy to see them? Each of these factors can weigh heavy on a Skew score and conversely can be polished to lift your vibrations up up up.
Plenty will argue, but Janthopoyism firmly stands by the power of tidiness and cleanliness. Clutter will have a profound effect on your subconscious. The less distracting your immediate environment, the sharper your path of thought. The more bits and pieces haphazardly scattered in your peripheral, the more your mental patterns will trip over themselves. Coming home to chaos and living in disorder is not conducive to streamlined human evolution.
“Cleanliness is next to godliness.” – John Wesley
For this reason, the influence of organisation and sanitation is stronger than many give credit. Scrubbing rid of dirt, replacing faulty appliances, sorting your papers, upgrading furniture, adding healthy plants, painting new colours, and shifting items to different positions in the spirit of Vastu Shastra/feng shui can lead to miraculous (even addictive) energetic enhancements. The motions are therapeutic, and the outcomes are instantly tangible. If you're feeling out of sorts, dedicate time to making your domain nicer. No other Skew can so effortlessly supply momentum that you can glide into surrounding areas. If it's broken, fix it. If it's boring, change it. It's an easy Skew Hack whenever you need a jolt.
Expanding from the house, you can explore the outdoors forever. Are you friendly with your neighbours? Does your street please you? Your neighbourhood? Your city? Your country? Your continent? The challenges grow the further outward you go, but you're not here to repair everything. You are here merely to raise your vibe by .5. If Home has a terrifyingly daunting issue, focus on an aforementioned easier task to get that positive blood flowing. This strategy will open you up to better ideas that perpetually escalate until you achieve something greater.
That's another beauty of this Skew. There is no situation so easily changed. If Home is truly beyond restoration, all you have to do is move and you wipe the entire slate clean.
When your life comes to an end, many of your most treasured moments will revolve around this Skew. The home you shared with loved ones or where you created a family of your own. The crazy housemates you bonded with over the years. Or even the temporary pillows you relaxed your head upon while travelling uncharted lands. The locations change, but you must treat each of them with care and pride, for only then will you find the mental balance needed to offer your best-rested self to everything else.
Janthopoyism is a spiritual philosophy meets self-improvement program.
We view the Absolute collection of all Universal Energy to be the highest power. You are part of that power. You are an extension of divinity.
The ultimate purpose of this power is to evolve, and we each have a unique part to play in this progression. The details of your role are relayed to you every moment of your life via emotional notifications.
The tricky bit is that human beings have developed a communication barrier between themselves and this instruction.
This barrier is called "the brain".
But never fear! By utilising some very simple practices, you can open the flow of exchange, granting you access to the ether of infinite ideas, the infallible path of your guided destiny, and the recollection of your holiness.
Which is basically a wanky way of saying that your life is about to get a whole bunch better.
Join the movement before it becomes too mainstream.
