#holythrowback to 2022 when I visited St. George’s Cathedral in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Emperor Menelik II commissioned this 19th-century Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church to celebrate the 1896 Battle of Adwa, where Ethiopia defeated Italy, ceasing that kingdom’s conquest across the Horn of Africa. Incredible but true, Ethiopia is one of the few African countries that were never colonised. Of course, Mussolini had a five-year occupation, to which the Ethiopians like to say, “We let them build our roads, and then we kicked them out.”
In 1930, Emperor Haile Selassie was crowned here. As the Rastafari religion believes Selassie is the Second Coming of Christ, St. George’s Cathedral is a pilgrimage site for that faith. In 1937, the Italian Fascist authorities burnt the church down, but Selassie fixed it up several years later.
Attached to this building is a museum where you can find copies of the Orthodox Tewahedo Bible. As any fan of this scripture will tell you, this variation is the coolest. It features 81 books, making it the largest biblical canon in Christianity. This includes the Book of Enoch, of which most Bibles are terrified due to interbreeding between human women and angels/demons/giants/aliens; take your pick. In other facts, Jared is the father of Enoch, the earliest documentation of my name in history.
Ethopia’s religious history is fascinating. They were one of the first Christian nations in the world (4th century), and 67% of the population remains that way (44% Ethiopian Orthodox). This means they somehow managed to resist Islamic conversion despite the Muslim countries that surround them. Still, Islam comes in second at 31.3%.

Janthopoyism is a spiritual philosophy meets self-improvement program.
We view the Absolute collection of all Universal Energy to be the highest power. You are part of that power. You are an extension of divinity.
The ultimate purpose of this power is to evolve, and we each have a unique part to play in this progression. The details of your role are relayed to you every moment of your life via emotional notifications.
The tricky bit is that human beings have developed a communication barrier between themselves and this instruction.
This barrier is called "the brain".
But never fear! By utilising some very simple practices, you can open the flow of exchange, granting you access to the ether of infinite ideas, the infallible path of your guided destiny, and the recollection of your holiness.
Which is basically a wanky way of saying that your life is about to get a whole bunch better.
Join the movement before it becomes too mainstream.
