Sacred Travel: Santa Chiara Church
#holythrowback to 2019, when I visited the Santa Chiara church in Pisa, Italy.
Most people will tell you there is nothing to do in Pisa besides stare at some leaning tower, so let me interject and inform you... they are correct. However! It is worth your time to visit the tiny Santa Chiara church too, because, within these walls, you will discover a certified thorn from Jesus Christ’s crown! THE JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF, PEOPLE.
Who certified it, you may ask? Good question. I have no idea. Any validity is forced under extra strain when over 20 other locations claim to have inherited a similar relic (Notre Dame Cathedral most famously). But still... imagine it’s genuine?? Then this little wooden fella was a key instrument at the most significantly influential moment in recorded history. And, like, the thorns have got to be somewhere, right?

It goes without saying that Christianity holds Italy tight, with just under 80% of citizens dedicated the Catholic faith. General nonbelievers come second at 12.4%.
