Sacred Travel: Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral
#holythrowback to 2020 when I visited The Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral in Liverpool. United Kingdom.
Your travels will never be scarce of Christian establishments, but now and then, your path will cross one that stabs into your memory and lodges there forever. Locally known as Paddy’s Wigwam, they completed it around 1967, which coincides with the release of an album called Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by some local Liverpudlian group. I checked out this building between lockdowns in 2020 and found it to be a bizarre church indeed as it presents minimal indications of Christ worship whatsoever. Instead, it looks more... Mayan? Mesopotamian? Native American? Heaven’s Gate?? SATANIC??? I mean, what’s up with that third photo????
Jokes aside, Liverpool is arguably the coolest city in the UK and I look forward to visiting again soon!.
