Sacred Travel: Hollywood Forever Cemetery & Scientology Celebrity Centre
#holythrowback to 2018, when I visited the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and the Scientology Celebrity Centre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA.
Founded in 1899, Hollywood Forever is one of the oldest cemeteries in LA and the only one in Hollywood. Like everything in this neighbourhood, it is famous for being famous, now the final resting place for many celebrities, including voice actor Mel Blanc (Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Barney Rubble) and Ramones guitarist Johnny Ramone. Both gravestones are pictured here.
Not far away, you’ll find the Scientology Celebrity Centre. A big part of L. Ron Hubbard’s strategy was to recruit celebrities, and without mentioning any names, we all know there were some very impressive successes on that front. There are also more Scientologists in Hollywood than any other location in the world.

Be that as it may, the Christian faith still constitutes 65% of LA’s religious beliefs. But the Hollywood celebrity culture is so thick that one could almost argue it’s a religion unto itself where the prophets are movie stars and musicians.
