Sacred Travel: Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach
#holythrowback to 2020 when I visited the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach in Miami, Florida, USA.
The ethnoreligious group of Judaism has faced more historic brutal mistreatment than any other culture, and as a result, so many associated landmarks are not celebrations but areas of mourning. When you permanently travel, you will unavoidably encounter an array of these reminders, but none were as stomach-churning as the one at Miami Beach.
These photos should be enough to prod your solar plexus into tears, but what you can’t hear is the soft eerie soundtrack playing over the speakers to accompany the horror. I’m not ashamed to confess that I cried as I stood there, looking up, wondering how tf something like this ever came to be.

Designed by Kenneth Treister and opened in 1990, these harrowing markers unfairly represent an otherwise richly complex religion. However, their importance supersede what any church or temple may offer, as they serve as blunt warnings as to what we must never ever allow to happen again. For this reason, I will be presenting many similar examples as these entries move forward.
Judaism counts for 9% of Miami’s religious dedication, while fragments of Christian denominations overpower everything at 68%. Second in line is the 21% who couldn’t care less.
